Katrien Beuls is a knowledgeable individual who has a strong educational background, holding a Master of Science in Speech and Language Processing from the University of Edinburgh and a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Leuven. She completed her PhD in Computer Science at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, focusing on Computer-Assisted Language Learning with a basis in Computational Construction Grammar and symbolic AI techniques like student modeling and tutoring strategies to deliver personalized feedback. Currently serving as an assistant professor in Computer Science, Katrien specializes in teaching Natural Language Processing technologies and AI programming paradigms. She actively contributes to various projects, including H2020 ODYCCEUS, AI4EU platform, and leads the ATLANTIS (Era-Net) project. Her research centers on Evolutionary and Hybrid AI applications for tasks demanding advanced perception, reasoning, and learning abilities.
