Katja Berlin, PhD

Katja Berlin is a Data Scientist at Grammarly, based in Sunnyvale, California, United States. She has been with Grammarly since April 2020. Before joining Grammarly, she was a Fellow at Insight Data Science, where she developed a machine learning model for an online real-estate marketplace to predict and rank transactions at risk of cancellation using Python and various data science libraries.12

Katja holds a PhD in Physics from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where she conducted research on the temperature stability of novel materials used in data storage devices. Her work involved using transmission electron microscopy to study micro-structural dynamics during melting and sublimation.2 She also has a Master of Science in Physics from the same university and has studied abroad at the University of Technology Sydney.2

In addition to her technical expertise in Python, scikit-learn, pandas, numpy, SQL, and Matlab, Katja has experience in project management and consulting. She has worked as a Business Strategy Consultant and Project Manager for Company Consulting Team e.V., managing projects across various industries.2
