As the Garment Worker Center's Event Coordinator for their 17th Annual Gala, Katie is directing coordination with the venue, vendors, and caterers for this exciting event. She is shaping the design and layout for promotional materials with the graphic designer and developing the theme for the event with a team of 3 staff. She is also managing and tracking donation requests and attendee registration.

Event Coordinator

In this position, Katie is leading event vision and execution for 10-12 events per year with 30 to 450 attendees. She is the key driver behind producing the association's communication materials including email marketing, yearly reports, membership brochures, and annual gala program books.

Program Director

As Program Manager, Katie leads the design and execution of monthly event planning with 75 to 200 attendees for a networking, advocacy, and educational organization of over 700 members. She designs and creates print and digital media to engage members. She leads and manages multi-step projects that involve sponsors, members, and staff with multiple deadlines. She also supervises an administrative assistant as well as leads task management systems to maintain an efficient and smooth organization.

She composes material to engage members and connect members via social media, email communication, and flyers. She manages guest lists, venue logistics, and volunteers. She manages multi-step projects that involve sponsors, members, and staff with multiple deadlines.

As a TA, Katie created teaching material based on syllabus, facilitated classroom discussion, conducted lectures to 100+ students, engaged students in one-on-one meetings, collaborated with faculty and co-TAs to educate and inspire students

Graduate Teaching Assistant

As an Occupational Health Intern, Katie collaborated with students, community members, Pilipino Workers Center, faculty, and staff to design a research study to measure sleep of domestic live-in caregivers. With her team, she conducted 15 one-on-one in-depth interviews with Filipino domestic caregivers, recorded data, conducted data analysis, and presented data to a national forum on Occupational Health.

UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment

Occupational Health Intern

- Interviewed 30 applicants and collected fees for training
- Coordinated with 6 Asian American focused organizations in Los Angeles to facilitate training workshops
- Planned for supplies needed for a 4 day training

-Oversee the work of 5 workstudy interns as they plan events and facilitate community building

Co-Head Organizer

-Planned, collaborated with other organizations, coordinated with speakers and lecturers, and execute events around Asian American issues for 15 to 100 audience members
- Created comprehensive GIS maps about the Inland Empire using ArcMap GIS software and US Census information 
- Conducted and video recorded interviews of 6 students who grew up in the Inland Empire ('11-'12)

Asian American Resource Center (AARC)

- organized an informative and political training involving workshops and mingling for Asian American and Pacific Islander Students 
- oversaw programming of weekly events for first year students

Asian American Sponsor Program

- Collaborated with an undergraduate student, a PhD student, and Professor Kanaya on 2 different research projects 
- Interviewed and tested 6 children and their mothers about developmental progress
- Presented research at the Western Psychological Association Conference
- Coded and organized data in collaboration with PhD student, Benjamin Marsh, on his project comparing how different groups of people remember
