Katie Aune

Assistant Dean for External Relations at Philip Merrill College of Journalism - University of Maryland

Katie Aune is a former tax attorney with over a decade of experience in alumni relations and development. Currently, she serves as the Assistant Dean for External Relations at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, overseeing fundraising activities.

Katie's educational background includes an LLM from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, a JD from the University of Minnesota Law School, and a BA from the University of Iowa.

With a passion for running, sports, and travel, Katie speaks Russian and embarked on a year-long journey through the 15 former Soviet countries in 2011-2012. She is also working on a book about her experiences from this unforgettable adventure.

Prior to her current role, Katie held positions such as Development Director at The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, Planned Giving Officer at National Geographic Society, Director of Alumni Engagement at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Associate Director of Development at DePaul University's College of Law, and various legal roles at Reed Smith LLP and Mayer Brown.
