Kathy Vetter

Kathy Vetter is a key member of the News Leadership Team at McClatchy, where she holds the position of deputy to the vice president of News. In this capacity, she manages a wide array of responsibilities including overseeing regional editors, the Washington Bureau, the national reporting team, as well as coordinating efforts with shared news teams and collaborating closely with McClatchy's 30 newsrooms to enhance digital strategy, audience growth, and technology utilization.

Kathy pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Communications from Baylor University, providing her with a solid foundation in the field.

With a wealth of experience in the journalism and news industry, Kathy has held various distinguished roles such as Managing Editor/News at McClatchy, Managing Editor of McClatchy Shared News, Managing Editor of Newsroom Reinvention at McClatchy, Digital Publishing Coordinator in the Technology Division at McClatchy, Managing Editor at Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Managing Editor in News and Enterprise at Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Suburban newspaper editor at AH Belo, as well as positions as a Sports Writer at Montgomery County Courier and Contra Costa Times.
