Kathrin Komp-Leukkunen

Kathrin Komp-Leukkunen is an Associate Professor at the University of Helsinki with a focus on life-course research, aging research, comparative welfare research, and quantitative research methods. She holds an M.A. in political science and sociology from Justus Liebig University Giessen, as well as degrees in Russian and European studies from Smolensk State Pedagogical University and Leipzig University, respectively. Komp-Leukkunen also studied nutritional science and home economics at Justus Liebig University Giessen.

In addition to her position at the University of Helsinki, Komp-Leukkunen has previously held positions as an Associate Senior Lecturer at Umeå University in Sweden, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Helsinki, an External Lecturer at the University of Bremen in Germany, and an Associate Fellow for the program "Future Leaders of Aging Research in Europe." She has also conducted research as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Umea University, Yale University, and the University of Lethbridge.

Komp-Leukkunen's professional interests and expertise include the study of aging and welfare systems from a comparative perspective, analyzing how social, economic, and political factors influence the life courses of individuals and populations, and utilizing quantitative research methods to advance scientific understanding.
