Kateri Lirio
Kateri Lirio, a Filipino-American, is a graduate fellow and a candidate for a Master of Arts in Teaching degree at the Longy School of Music at Bard College. She is a passionate educator, seeking opportunities to provide curriculum consultation, and lead teaching artist residencies in K-12, community groups, and distance learning settings. With a focus on arts integration, constructivism, and socio-emotional learning, Kateri champions cultural equity and belonging in all the communities she serves.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Music Industry Studies from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She also has a High School Diploma in Instrumental Music, where she was the valedictorian, from the Orange County School of the Arts.
Throughout her career, Kateri has been a music teaching artist and a piano accompanist at the Orange County School of the Arts. She has also worked as a music theory instructor at Orche Pia Music Education.
Kateri will be presenting her thesis "Sustaining Intergenerational Media in Music Education" in July 2021. Her expertise in arts integration, constructivism, and socio-emotional learning make her a valuable asset to any educational institution or community.
