Kate Shumate is a highly educated individual with a diverse academic background. She earned a Certificate in Technical Communication with an emphasis in Editing from the University of California, Berkeley Extension. In addition, she completed her BS in Biology and MPA in Health Care Services from the University of San Francisco. Kate also attended Arlington Heights Elementary.
In terms of professional experience, Kate has held various roles at esteemed organizations. Currently, she serves as the Director of Scientific Programs Administration at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Previously, she was the Chair of the Community Advisory Board at Alliance Health Project and the Associate Director of the Pancreas Cancer Research Program at the University of California, San Francisco. Kate has also worked as a Research Services Analyst, Division Chief Analyst of Hematology/Oncology, and Administrative Specialist in the BAS Financial Planning & Budget department at UC Berkeley. Furthermore, she gained experience as an Administrative Assistant at Charles Schwab & Co and as a Program Administrator for the Executive MBA Program at the University of San Francisco.
