Greenwich Students'​ Union

Chief Executive Officer

Oxford SU

o Working alongside a 0.5fte Chief Executive, aided the transition period for Arts Students’ Union following the de-merger of the joint Students’ Union (LSE Students’ Union and Arts Students’ Union) through the Partnership Review
o Supported and embedded the new structure and managers to enable a smooth transition to a stand-alone Students’ Union including training and development
o Completed a full deep dive review of the finances 
o Embedded organisational management strategies including a monthly away day, informal team huddles, 1-1’s and a project management meeting structure 
o Communicated the new structure to University partner and key stakeholders to enable the continued partnership working 
o Ensured the business as usual working of the organisation during the transition, including the delivery of a Freshers Programme and Freshers Fair 
o Supported the development of a proposal to UAL gaining £750,000 of additional funding to create an International Hardship and Emergency Fund, money directly into students’ pockets

Arts Students'​ Union

Interim Deputy Chief Executive 

o	14 month maternity cover acting as a Change Manager to manage the complete dissolution and transformation of two Students’ Unions with complex governance arrangements (The Partnership Review) as well as ensuring the business as usual of the role continued during the project
o	Led the People and Staff Engagement Workstream of the Partnership Review which included:
a.	Leading the design and delivery of two staffing structures, ensuring legal, financial and HR obligations met 
b.	Successfully bidding for an uplift in block grant of 13%
c.	Delivered programme management compliance and governance to both Partnership Board and Trustee Boards/s
o	Acted as part of the Unions’ Directorate Team liaising directly with Vice-Chancellors and Executive Boards to lead the Unions services and lobbying functions (80 FTE staff and circa £10M turnover)
o	Supported the Chief Executive Officer to manage two Trustee Boards delivering programmed management compliance and governance to both
o	Senior oversight and budget management and sign off
o	Provided expert leadership in strategy development leading on evidence based impactful advocacy and lobbying for circa 30,000 students, 13 sites across London
o	Managed a team of 40 staff to deliver services through clear frameworks ensuring Unions are truly member-led, engaging high numbers of students in all activity and campaigns
o	Ensured compliance and governance obligations are executed specifically in the areas of Academic Representation and a high-quality, independent advice service.
o	Led the communications strategy and communications team, driving engagement through all channels

Interim Director of Membership

LSE Students' Union

- Provides strategic leadership to the Students’ Union, University of Greenwich (SU) Membership Services team
- Oversee the £500,000 budget for the Membership Services Team
- Lead the 16 person membership service team to provide the services and experience for students at the University of Greenwich; Responsible for the delivery of student representation, democracy, governance, advice, activities and student events;
- Responsible for growing participation and increasing footfall across the Greenwich and Avery Hill campuses
- Deputise for the Chief Executive

Head of Membership Services (Deputy Chief Executive)

- Setting the strategic direction, managing the budgets and staff within the Representation Team
- £350,000 budget management
- Managing a team of 10 to achieve the strategic vision of The Students’ Union at UWE to make a positive impact on the life of every UWE student
- Managing an advice centre, providing 1-1 advice and proactive preventative campaigns to students at UWE Bristol
- Overall responsibility for the Union democracy and governance policies and processes
- Overseeing the Academic Representation system across the University

Key Successes - 
- Implementing a full Democratic Review including; successfully bidding to gain a Democracy Coordinator to conduct the review, researching students wants and needs from a new democratic model and the implementation of the new model. - Successful internal bidding and gaining an additional role into the Representation Team of an Academic Representation Manager 
- Successful external bidding and gaining an additional Adviser within the Advice Team to accommodate for the campus split and demographics at UWE

The Students'​ Union at UWE

Representation Manager 

- Coordinate and manage the course representative system of 500+ student reps, managing a team of 6 people to develop and enhance the system.
- Management of the administration of online course rep elections for 500+ positions.
- Coordinate the training and ongoing development of representatives.
- Secretary to the Student Partnership and Representation Group (SPaRG) providing administrative support to the group as well as writing reports and developing the partnership vision

Key Successes: 
- Successful implementation of online Course Rep Elections 
- First ever Course Rep Training Conference with an attendance of 256 students
- 80% of names on the Course Rep database by the end of first term, a 50% increase on the previous year
- Shortlisted for 2014 NUS Education Award for Academic Representation Work

University of Bristol Students' Union

Representation and Quality Coordinator 

- Facilitating the student rep system-over 1000 students who are elected by their cohort to represent their views at meetings with the University and feedback issues or concerns.
- Training Student Reps so they are effective in their representative role
- Facilitating 20 different meetings 4 times a year to collect and collate feedback
- Reporting back to the University in a variety of forms the feedback collected by student reps
- Work with University stakeholders to improve the student rep process of feeding back issues
- Coordinating other events such as a Student Rep Conference and The Student Rep Awards

Representation Coordinator 

- During my Gap year I worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Employment and Support Allowance section of the Department for Works and Pensions. Responsibilities included:
- Sorting daily post
- Organisation of Office: including filing, photocopying
- After 6 months I was promoted from an Administrative Assistant to an Administrative Officer. Responsibilities included:
- Processing individual claim forms via specialist computer system
- Dealing with individual problems and complaints by phone
