Kate, who is of Maori (Ngai te rangi) descent from Tauranga Moana, has lived in various countries, including Australia, Fiji, Samoa, and the United States. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Politics from Curtin University and attended Katanning Senior High School.
