Kate Bergstrom

Kate Bergstrom is an accomplished Artistic Director and curator with a rich background in planning and managing productions, as well as new play development.

With a community-oriented approach, Kate excels in creating innovative programs and curating events from inception, showing a deep understanding of artist and theater production needs.

Her extensive educational background includes a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Directing and Artistic Directing from Brown University and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theater from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated with a stellar 4.0 GPA.

Beyond her academic achievements, Kate has been involved in various organizations and roles including hosting a podcast at Spoke Media, lecturing at UCSB Department of Theater and Dance, and serving as a Critic at Rhode Island School of Design.

She has held key positions such as Director, Dramaturg & Affiliated Artist at Ojai Playwright's Conference, Founding Artistic & Executive Director at On The Verge Repertory Company, and Theater Director at United Talent Agency, among others.

Kate's experience extends to teaching roles as a Visiting Professor at New York University and The New School, as well as leadership positions such as Head of Drama/Theatre Department at Laguna Blanca School.

With a diverse background that includes work as a Voice Over Artist at Hasbro, Arts Writer at Santa Barbara Independent, and Theater Director at Elements Theatre Collective, Kate brings a multifaceted skill set to her artistic endeavors.

Her past roles as Assistant Director at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and Substitute Teacher at Santa Barbara School Districts showcase her commitment to enriching the performing arts and education sectors.

Kate's professional journey also includes experience as an Artistic Director at GSF and intern-assisting the Associate Director at Highways Performance Space.
