Kat Jones is a multi-talented artist and community leader from Nashville, Tennessee. She is the Director of Community Development for Experimental Music at abrasiveMedia, an artist advocacy group that promotes growth and collaboration within the creative community. With a background in Drama and Dramatics/Theatre Arts from the University of the Nations in Edinburgh, Kat brings a dynamic and nuanced perspective to all of her artistic endeavors. She is the lead singer of her band, Kat Jones & the Prophets, who specialize in creating emotionally powerful music experiences. Kat is also a highly sought-after collaborator, having worked on numerous interdisciplinary projects that combine dance, poetry, and music.
One of her most notable projects was Dear Apocalypse, a collaboration with the contemporary and aerial dance company FALL. This piece, which explored themes of trauma and survival, was performed at the Troutt Theater as part of the Sideshow Fringe Festival in Nashville in 2016. Kat is currently working on a collaboration with cellist Joshua Dent that focuses on themes of platonic intimacy, which will tour art galleries and special venues around Europe in the Spring of 2017. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Kat is deeply committed to building and supporting communities of independent artists, especially those on the fringes of the music scene.
