Team Lead, DHIS2 Project Support at University of Oslo

As a functional analyst, I collaborate closely with product managers, designers, architects, developers, and testers, and act as a link between users and the technical team in charge of developing DHIS2, as well as providing input to the DHIS2 metadata packages. I stay in close contact with DHIS2 implementers, users, partners, and donors to ensure good functional design that aligns well with the needs on the ground in countries.

Key responsibilities include:
- Support requirements gathering phases with global content partners, HISP groups, DHIS2 experts, and other relevant stakeholders to translate functional requirements into DHIS2 design, requirements and features
- Write user stories and functional requirements to feed into software requirements and development, focusing on Tracker and related analytics products, but with a focus on documenting user needs outside of the context of DHIS2 technology (e.g. data needs rather than system needs)
- Support prioritization of development tasks across functional teams in close collaboration with product managers and development leads, including solutions that are not core development (i.e. modular apps, scripting, external solutions)
- Support in aligning software development priorities with country needs and partner requests
- Provide input and learning from global content partners, field implementations, and software features into the development and feedback cycle of DHIS2 Tracker metadata packages
- Project management responsibilities related to software functionality deliverables and integration into metadata packages
- Contribute to documentation and training material, including configuration/design choices, functional requirements, and learning from Tracker implementations 
- Support implementation activities, including travel and in-country assistance as needed.

DHIS2 Functional Analyst

DHIS2 is a free and open source software platform for the collection, management, analysis and use of data and information. The platform, the national health information system in 67 countries, is a global public good transforming health information management around the world

I am the Team Lead of the DHIS2 Project Support team at HISP UiO. I follow up and coordinate many of the external contracts with donors and subcontractors at HISP in terms of reporting, invoicing, planning and project management. I also work with the product managers and dev team around managing requirements and deliverables from donors and projects, and how they can best be developed in a generic, sustainable and impactful way in DHIS2.

I worked with grant management of projects in the subprogramme of natural resource management  in the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Building in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED), as well as follow-up of grants to research institutions in Africa.

Full-time work August 2014 - February 2015, part-time work October 2015 - March 2016.

I worked in the Domain for Mental and Physical Health in the Department of Health Surveillance and Suicide Prevention, on the project "Health registry for mental health" where tasks include:
Conduct literature reviews, data analysis with STATA, report writing and writing journal articles for publication on topics like 1) socio-economic inequalities and suicide in Norway and 2) mental health and suicide in Norway's immigrant population.

I also assisted with administrating and coordinating different activities in the working group on migration health, arranging meetings for those involved in research on migration and immigrant health in and outside the institute, help follow up the subprojects of the working group, and will also look into new, possible funding opportunities on the topic and collaborate on writing applications for new research grants and projects on public health issues related to asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants.

Higher Executive Officer/Research Assistant

Worked alongside the maternal health advisor, on maternal, newborn and child health. Researched and edited data and information for background papers, briefing notes, reports and presentations. Assisted with the advisor's planning and coordination of maternal and child health initiatives and projects on country level. Supported the UNFPA office staff with other programs and tasks as required.
