Karishma Desai is an accomplished academic with a strong background in education and anthropology. She holds a Doctorate from Teachers College of Columbia University, a BA in Sociocultural Anthropology and English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master of Education (MEd) in International and Comparative Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Desai currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Education at Rutgers University and has previously held positions as an Adjunct Instructor at Montclair State University and City College of New York. Her academic journey includes being a doctoral student at Teachers College, Columbia University, and the Founding Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Central Queens Academy Charter School. She has also contributed to education as a 4th Grade Literacy and Social Studies Teacher at University of Chicago Charter School and as a Corps Member at Teach for America.
