Karen Mossberger
Frank and June Sackton Professor of Public Affairs
Dr. Karen Mossberger is a distinguished researcher focusing on digital inequality, e-government, civic engagement, local governance, and urban policy.
She has authored several influential books including 'Digital Cities: The Internet and the Geography of Opportunity', 'The Oxford Handbook of Urban Politics', 'Digital Citizenship: The Internet, Society and Participation', and 'Virtual Inequality: Beyond the Digital Divide'.
Her recent projects encompass the evaluation of Chicago's Smart Communities Program, assessing the policy impacts of broadband, and a National Science Foundation initiative on broadband use data.
In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Mossberger was elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration in 2016.
With a Ph.D. in Political Science from Wayne State University, she holds the prestigious Frank & June Sackton Professor of Public Affairs position at Arizona State University.
She has previously held positions as Professor and Director at the School of Public Affairs and as Department Head at the University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as various teaching roles at University of Illinois at Chicago and Kent State University.
