Karen Krause-Bencal is a seasoned professional with a strong background in technology innovation, specifically in the realm of defense and dual-use advancements.

Currently serving as the Vice President of Federal Programs at the Applied Research Institute (ARI), Karen is instrumental in spearheading partnerships that aid in the transition of science and technology (S&T) innovations from the laboratory to the market.

Prior to joining ARI, Karen's impressive career includes leading government, industry, and investor partnerships for DARPA INNOVATE, an entrepreneurial research fellowship program focused on dual-use defense innovations.

Karen has a diverse professional background that includes leadership roles in corporate innovation, advanced technology programs, and new venture initiatives at prestigious organizations such as Battelle Memorial Institute and RTX.

Apart from her corporate experience, Karen also founded a transportation engineering services firm that supported security and energy technology pilot programs, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to advancing new technologies.

Education-wise, Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Technology from Cornell University and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College, equipping her with a solid academic foundation to complement her practical expertise.
