Karen Kovalevich
Karen Kovalevich is a highly qualified educator and NYC Teaching Fellows alumna with over 10 years of experience teaching self-contained special education classes of students with Autism. She is currently serving as a Special Education Liaison at the NYC Department of Education.1
Kovalevich holds a Master of Science for Teachers in Elementary and Special Education from Pace University-New York and a Master of Arts in K-12 Education Policy from Teachers College of Columbia University. Her passion for education and dedication to increasing equity through school integration, social-emotional learning, and reimagining measures of school quality have led her to pursue advanced degrees and continuously expand her expertise.
As a veteran Special Education Teacher at the NYC Department of Education, Kovalevich has made significant contributions to the field. Her professionalism, knowledge, and experience are further enhanced by her ongoing studies at Teachers College Columbia University, where she is broadening her understanding of K-12 education policy.
