Senior Economist at Mathematica
Kara Contreary is a highly accomplished health economist with extensive experience designing and conducting quantitative evaluations of federal and state health policies and programs. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as a Master of Research in Economics with Distinction and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (with a minor in Biological Sciences) from Stanford University.
Currently working at Mathematica Policy Research, Kara's work focuses on health care payment reform, insurance design, and access for low-income populations. Her expertise in health economics has made her an asset to the organization, as she is always able to clearly communicate complex ideas to a diverse range of audiences.
Kara Contreary is known for her passion for providing information that has visible, real-world impact. Prior to her work at Mathematica Policy Research, she was a Prevention Effectiveness Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and a Teaching Fellow/Teaching Assistant at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
