Kandarp Thakar

Kandarp Thakar is a Legal Director at Uber Technologies Inc., overseeing UK&I operations and serving as the General Counsel of Autocab Limited. With over two decades of international legal experience, Kandarp is passionate about innovation and technology. He collaborates on top-tier strategies, leads diverse international teams, and provides legal guidance on various regulatory, litigation, corporate, and commercial matters in the Mobility and Delivery sectors. With a strong background in private practice at prestigious law firms like Baker & McKenzie LLP and DLA Piper LLP, Kandarp has led multinational teams in managing real estate assets and played key roles in establishing start-up operations in the Middle East. He has contributed significantly to iconic developments in Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai before transitioning to an in-house role as Associate General Counsel at Msheireb Properties.

Kandarp Thakar then led the development of legal and compliance infrastructure, facilitated transactions for a growing development company, and spearheaded projects worth over $10 billion, including the smart and sustainable city in Doha for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Subsequently, he joined Uber where he plays a pivotal role in integrating the legal function into corporate strategy, addressing regulatory, corporate, and commercial challenges, as well as overseeing various legal aspects such as contentious matters, compliance, competition, and intellectual property.

As an executive team member at Uber, Kandarp Thakar provides strategic guidance enabling disruptive technology and transformational change. Outside his executive roles, he is an active public speaker, commentator, and serves on advisory boards while contributing to innovation initiatives and mentoring start-ups.
