Kalani Johnson

Kalani Johnson is an early career social science researcher based in the D.C. area with a focus on policing, policing technologies, and community interactions. She has a background in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, as well as experimental design. Her research interests revolve around disparate criminal justice system interactions concerning race/ethnicity, gender, and class.

Kalani pursued her education at the University of Maryland College Park, where she completed a Master of Arts in Criminology and a Bachelor's of Arts with Honors in Sociology and Criminology.

Currently, Kalani holds the position of Senior Research Specialist at Justice Research and Innovation within the CNA Corporation. Previously, she has worked as a Research Associate and Research Consultant at the Police Foundation, gaining valuable experience in the field.

Aside from her research roles, Kalani has also contributed to various organizations, serving as a Support Worker at the Family Crisis Center of Prince George's County and taking on multiple roles as a Research Assistant and Peer Advisor at the University of Maryland College Park. Additionally, she has experience as a Social Justice Education Intern at the same institution.
