Kacey Short is an accomplished professional with a strong academic background. In 2022, she completed her Master's in Public Administration at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, followed by pursuing a Master's in Clinical Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University in 2023.
Currently collaborating with Dr. Laura Smith at Columbia's IncLab, Kacey focuses on studying Whiteness as a structure of dominance and the impact of psychology on reinforcing its colonial legacy. Her research primarily revolves around interventions to reduce relapse in non-suicidal self-injury behavior among adolescent girls and the nuances of emotions and trauma.
Her educational journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in Women and Gender Studies and Human Sexuality Studies from San Francisco State University, in addition to her Master's degrees from Harvard and Teachers College, Columbia University.
With a diverse professional background, Kacey has held various roles including Research Assistant at Teachers College, Columbia University, Research Fellow at Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, and Co-Editor-in-Chief at Harvard AntiRacism Policy Journal. She has also been involved in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives at organizations like Tinder and Evernote, along with experience in technical recruitment and consulting roles.
