    Dr. Justin Sanchez, a highly accomplished individual in the field of life sciences research, biomedical engineering, and neurotechnology, currently serves as the Life Sciences Research Technical Fellow at Battelle Memorial Institute. With an extensive background in academia and government, Dr. Sanchez previously held key roles at DARPA, including Director of the Biological Technologies Office (BTO), where he spearheaded the development of cutting-edge technologies in neurotechnology, gene editing/synthetic biology, and combating infectious diseases. His work at DARPA involved overseeing substantial investments in biotechnology programs to enhance national security and military capabilities.

    Prior to his tenure at DARPA, Dr. Sanchez contributed significantly to the academic landscape as an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience at the University of Miami, where he led the Neuroprosthetics Research Group. His research focused on advancing neurotechnology for medical applications such as treating paralysis, stroke, movement disorders, and neuropsychiatric illnesses. Dr. Sanchez's academic achievements include publishing over 100 peer-reviewed papers, holding seven patents, and authoring two books on neurotechnology design. Moreover, he played a pivotal role in mentoring numerous students and postdoctoral associates across various disciplines.

    Dr. Sanchez's educational background is rooted in Biomedical Engineering, with a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Engineering from the University of Florida. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Science from the same institution.
