This is what an industry front group looks like in real time.

What's happening: thanks to decades of FDA failure to regulate chemicals in our food, states have recently been stepping up and passing laws banning certain ingredients by 2027.

Big Food's response to this movement is this front group. They are currently lobbying to remove states' ability to have their own food labeling requirements. And doing so under the guise of "making Americans healthy again".

Restricting states' ability to make their own labeling laws makes it easier for Big Food to capture the federal government. We've tried this for 50 years: it has not led to healthier Americans.

Starting in 2027, states like Texas have among the most restrictive food labeling requirements (thanks to SB 25).

As a nation, we should be encouraging this approach, and should be able to look back and see "what happened to children's health after the passage of SB 25". This is the kind of question that Big Food doesn't want to answer.

As states with better labeling and ingredient laws become healthier, it becomes a whole lot harder to say that obesity is purely genetic.

The problem is uniquely toxic food system, no matter what these industry front groups attempt to say.
