Justin Chen is a seasoned electrical engineer with a broad range of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining electrical power systems. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power systems from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. His experience spans across various organizations including Amazon Web Services (AWS), City and County of San Francisco, exp Global Inc., Alfa Tech, and City of Palo Alto.
At AWS, Justin serves as a data center design engineer where he helps to ensure the smooth operation of the company's data center infrastructure. He continually engages in preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for assigned projects requiring electrical expertise. He collaborates with clients and internal teams to determine applicable standards, writes appropriate specifications, and performs engineering design work as required to accomplish basic objectives.
During his time at the City and County of San Francisco, Justin assisted in performing electrical engineering assignments in connection with a wide range of municipal activities including electric power distribution, system protection, metering, energy management, lighting, communications, and traffic signal control. He worked with and provided guidance for the utility's customers in matters pertaining to the efficient use of electrical energy, system protection, demand control, and power-factor correction. Justin also assisted with writing and reviewing materials standards, equipment specifications, and operating procedures for the City's electric utility.
