Julie O'Mara
Coauthor GDEIB--Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Benchmarks: Standards for Organizations Around the World
Julie O'Mara is a prominent figure in the fields of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), as well as organizational development. She is a co-author of the Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB), which sets standards for organizations worldwide. O'Mara has also served as a shareholder and former member of the Board of Directors at Berrett-Koehler Publishers, Inc., an independent publisher focused on connecting people and ideas to create a better world.12
O'Mara's career began at Whirlpool Corporation, where she became the first woman hired as a manager in their management development program. She later worked in communications for The Marmon Group in Chicago. She is known for her contributions to the learning and development field, having served as the National President of the American Society for Training and Development (now known as the Association for Talent Development) and for authoring several influential publications on diversity and leadership.1
In addition to her consulting work, O'Mara has received numerous accolades, including recognition on the Economist's Global Diversity List in 2015 and various awards from the American Society for Training and Development.1 She resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, and has a grown son and two grandchildren.1
