    Julie Muir is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and the solid waste industry.

    Currently leading the zero waste plan implementation at Stanford University, she has a background as the Community Relations and Zero Waste Manager at Peninsula Sanitary Service, Inc.

    Julie spearheads Stanford University's initiative towards a zero waste campus by driving comprehensive waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting programs, elevating the recycling rate from 30% to 66%.

    Passionate about engaging with the campus community on waste reduction, she emphasizes education on the interconnectedness between zero waste, sustainable materials management, the circular economy, and climate change.

    Julie Muir holds the position of Past-President and now serves as a Senior Advisor to the California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) and also chairs the Zero Waste Campus Council of CRRA.

    Her educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in International Relations with an emphasis on Natural Resources and a minor in Environmental Policy and Planning from the University of California, Davis.
