Juliane Leopold

Juliane Leopold is a prominent German journalist, currently serving as the Chefredakteurin Digitales (Editor-in-Chief for Digital) at ARD-aktuell since October 2019. She has been instrumental in leading the digital news platform tagesschau.de, which is part of ARD's efforts to provide reliable information in the digital age. Under her leadership, the platform has significantly expanded its reach and enhanced its content offerings by incorporating more background information and analyses into its news coverage.12

Born in 1983 in Halle/Saale, Leopold pursued her studies in journalism and communication sciences at the Freie Universität Berlin, where she also wrote her master's thesis on community journalism as a publishing strategy. Her career began with various roles in media, including building the community for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung and starting the social media desk at Die Zeit. She was also a founding editor of BuzzFeed Germany, where she developed her skills in digital journalism and media strategy.124
