Julia Ryan

Julia Ryan is the Artist Resource Manager for the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture in Boston. She was hired in 2018 to serve as a liaison between the local arts community and city government.1 In this role, Julia helps artists and creative individuals navigate City Hall processes, find resources, and access information on various issues such as permitting, licensing, affordable housing, and small business support.12

Julia's background includes:

1. Education: She holds a Master of Education degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education.1
2. Previous experience: She worked as an Arts in Education Council Consultant at Harvard Graduate School of Education and as an Education and Development Coordinator at the Urbano Project.1
3. Current responsibilities: Julia manages MOAC-led grants and programs supporting local artists and arts organizations, oversees professional development services for creative workers, and focuses on grants like the Boston Cultural Council grant and the Opportunity Fund.3

Julia is a lifelong resident of Jamaica Plain and a graduate of Boston Public Schools. She has a background in printmaking, classical viola, and singing, and currently enjoys drawing and writing songs.3 Her goal is to meet every artist in Boston while serving as the Artist Resource Manager.3
