    Juan Carlos Matiz, AIA LEED AP, is the founder of Matiz Architecture & Design, a firm established in 2002 with a focus on educational and non-profit projects. The team at MAD includes architects, interior designers, and graphic artists who collaborate seamlessly on various projects. Juan's portfolio boasts notable works like The Santa Fe Opera master plan, the Northside Center for Child Development, and projects at Columbia University, NYU, CUNY, among others. He is actively involved in projects at academic institutions and community-oriented organizations such as Queens Community House. Alongside his professional practice, Juan has contributed to the field as a design critic and educator at various institutions, including Parsons, FIT, City College, and Pratt Institute, where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1994. Additionally, he is a member of the Architecture for Education Committee at the New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
