Joy Wood

Joy Wood is a computational thinking educator with a diverse background in computer science and education. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education and Teaching.

As a Computational Thinking Teacher at The CUBE School, Joy has been actively involved in developing and implementing innovative STEM curricula.1 Her passion lies in advocating for equity and inclusion in the tech industry through her teaching and curriculum development efforts.

1. Curriculum Development: Joy is currently working on developing an open-source computer science curriculum focused on Python, aimed at providing teachers with a customizable, project-oriented approach to teaching computer science.

2. Teaching Experience: In addition to her role at The CUBE School, Joy has worked as a Curriculum Developer and Instructor at Juni Learning, and as a Founding Computer Science Teacher at DSST Public Schools.1

3. STEM Advocacy: Joy founded the College View chapter to inspire girls in Southwest Denver to visualize themselves in STEM careers.2 She has also been involved in founding STEAM Girls VT, an initiative to promote STEM education among young girls.

4. International Education: Joy's educational background includes studying Hebrew Language and Literature at The Hebrew University and Turkish Language and Literature at Ege Üniversitesi.

5. Additional Roles: Throughout her career, Joy has held various positions, including Lead Instructor and Curriculum Tester at iD Tech Camps, Computer Science Teaching Assistant at Middlebury College, and Technology Consultant at Middlebury College.
