    Joy Alise Davis, M.A. is an interdisciplinary design strategist with over 12 years of experience in social justice organizations and leadership roles. She is a Cincinnati native and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Miami University and a Master of Arts in Theories of Urban Practice from Parsons The New School for Design.

    Joy is the founder of Design+ Culture Lab, a renowned research-driven urban-social enterprise focusing on the intersection of identity and place. Currently, she serves as the Executive Director of the Portland African American Leadership Forum (PAALF) and PAALF Action Fund, working towards empowering the Black community through political participation and leadership development.

    Her specialties include design thinking, participatory design, collaborative design, human-centered design, civic engagement, social media strategy, writing, community organizing, event planning, and public involvement. Joy has a diverse educational background, including studies in Urban Practices at Parsons, Urbanism & Strategic Planning at KU Leuven, and Political Science at Miami University.

    Throughout her career, Joy has held various roles in prestigious organizations such as Imagine Black, Pacific Northwest College of Art, Wieden + Kennedy, Rockwood Leadership Institute, and more. Her experiences range from executive positions to community building, strategic planning, writing, and mentoring roles. She has demonstrated a commitment to driving positive change and fostering inclusive communities through her work.
