Joshua Blackburn

Joshua Blackburn is a technology leader with extensive experience in the financial data industry. He co-founded and served as the Head of Technology for IEX Cloud, a division of IEX Group, Inc.12

With over 20 years of experience in leadership, software engineering, and product development, Blackburn played a crucial role in the creation and growth of IEX Cloud.3 This platform, launched in 2019, aimed to break down barriers to financial data access by providing a flexible, high-performance API and custom-built services for developers.12

Under Blackburn's leadership, IEX Cloud experienced significant growth, reaching nearly 10,000 users across more than 100 countries shortly after its beta launch.1 The platform was designed to offer curated financial data, including fundamentals, news, U.S. and international equities, mutual funds, options, and alternative data, along with developer tools and services.2

Blackburn's vision for IEX Cloud was shaped by his previous experiences as a developer, where he encountered firsthand the challenges of accessing and using financial data. This motivated him to create a solution that would allow developers to access the data and tools they needed in one place, with a flexible business model.12
