Joshua Baer

Joshua Baer is the Founder and CEO of Capital Factory, a prominent coworking community and mentorship-based accelerator located in Austin, Texas. His mission is to assist individuals in transitioning from traditional jobs to entrepreneurship. Baer established Capital Factory to provide startups with essential resources such as mentorship, office space, and access to investors and customers.12

Baer's entrepreneurial journey began in 1996 when he founded his first startup, Skylist, while studying at Carnegie Mellon University. Over the years, he has founded and sold several companies, including OtherInbox, which he started in 2008.23 He is also recognized for his contributions to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Texas, having invested in numerous startups and served as an active angel investor.24

In addition to his role at Capital Factory, Baer is involved in various initiatives, including teaching a class for student entrepreneurs at the University of Texas and co-founding a government relations firm called Washington Office, which focuses on helping tech companies connect with policymakers.4 His leadership and community involvement have earned him several accolades, including being named a Henry Crown Fellow and a Braddock Scholar at the Aspen Institute.13
