Joshua Anderton

Joshua Anderton is an entrepreneur and full-stack developer based in Vancouver, Canada. He is best known as the founder of Upscribe, a software product designed to simplify email marketing for businesses, bloggers, and authors. Upscribe was initially created in 2016 as a side project to facilitate opt-in forms for Medium but has since evolved into a comprehensive email marketing solution that allows users to send newsletters, manage sequences, and grow their subscriber base.13

Anderton has a background in software development and has previously founded other ventures, including Billingly, which focused on dunning emails and SMS, and Tiers, a pricing page builder for SaaS products. Both of these earlier projects were sold, with Billingly in 2019 and Tiers being retired afterward.24

At Upscribe, Anderton faced challenges with file handling and infrastructure while managing the platform alone. To overcome these hurdles, he integrated Uploadcare into Upscribe, which improved the app's functionality by handling file uploads and processing more efficiently. This allowed him to focus on enhancing the core features of Upscribe rather than getting bogged down by technical limitations.1

As of now, Upscribe serves around 300 customers and has become a significant player in the email marketing space, demonstrating Anderton's ability to pivot and adapt his business model effectively.1
