Joshua Alland

Associate Scientist at the National Hurricane Center

Joshua Alland is the Assessment Lead for the Coastal Act at the National Hurricane Center, specializing in the physical science of tropical cyclone development and the social science aspects of public response to uncertain intensity forecasts.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Atmospheric Science from the State University of New York at Albany and a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology (summa cum laude with honors) from Iowa State University.

Throughout his career, Joshua has been involved in various roles at prestigious organizations like the National Hurricane Center, NCAR - The National Center for Atmospheric Research, University at Albany, and Iowa State University.

His experience includes serving as the President of the Iowa State University Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society, a Hollings Researcher at the Hurricane Research Division, a Peer Mentor for the Earth, Wind & Fire Learning Community, a Student Volunteer at the National Weather Service, and a Teaching Assistant for Meteorology 206 Introduction to Meteorology, among other roles.
