Josh Hauptman

Josh Hauptman is an experienced intellectual property attorney with a strong background in patent strategy, prosecution, and monetization. His practice involves assisting clients at all stages of the patent process, from initial counseling to patent prosecution, as well as offering opinions on patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate. Hauptman represents inventors with diverse backgrounds, ranging from independent inventors to start-ups to larger corporations both in the United States and abroad.

Education-wise, Hauptman holds a Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law with a certificate of intellectual property. Additionally, he has a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Miami. He is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and is a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Hauptman's technical expertise covers a wide range of fields, including mobile devices, computer software, geographical information systems, imaging devices, robotics, medical devices, and mechanical arts. He has worked with offices of technology commercialization/transfer associated with universities and academia in preparing licensing and material transfer agreements.

Apart from his professional pursuits, Hauptman is passionate about aviation, riding motorcycles, fishing, and playing guitar.
