Joseph Mambwe
Founder at GymStreak
Joseph Mambwe is the founder of GymStreak, a successful fitness app that uses high-end animation and augmented reality to enhance exercise understanding and track user progress.12 Born in Zambia and raised in Botswana, Joseph moved to the UK at the age of 12.1 He studied Engineering at the University of Cambridge, where he developed his interests in fitness, animation, and design.13
Joseph created GymStreak, an app that automatically creates and manages home and gym workouts, intelligently adjusting weight, reps, rest times, and sets over time.4 The app's key differentiator is its use of 3D animated exercises and augmented reality, allowing users to view exercises from any angle.4
As a self-taught coder and 3D artist, Joseph bootstrapped GymStreak to $2.5 million in annual revenue with zero full-time employees, relying on a small team of contractors for marketing and customer support.24 His ability to handle both coding and 3D art allowed him to bootstrap more effectively than if he had to pay for additional tech talent.4
Joseph's entrepreneurial journey also includes founding Ruvix Labs in March 2013 and co-founding the Manchester Artificial Intelligence Community (manc.ai) from March 2018 to December 2020.5 He was also a member of Founders of the Future, an invite-only community for promising entrepreneurial talent in technology in Europe.5
