Having known the founder for 10+ years and serving on the Board of Atlanta Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) together, I was invited to join as a Managing Partner and growth catalyst to manage and expand the firm’s portfolio.   Immediately after joining, I was able to draw from my experience as an investor and lender, and link arms with senior level management teams, investors, and Boards of Directors to execute on the firm’s growth initiatives. 

Fully immersed in all aspects of operations and financial initiatives, executing due diligence, and actively cultivating lender and market relationships catapulting the integration and refinancing of debt for existing portfolio companies and establishing positioning for future acquisitions.

Zyston began as an idea on a piece of paper by the CEO whom I’d worked with in various ways for over 10+ years.   Hired to build this dream into a reality, one of my initial directives was raising the seed capital to launch the business.  The next step was to cultivate a senior level team of professionals across multiple cybersecurity functions to execute the deliverables.  

By working closely with tech savvy cyber professionals, we then raised additional capital to build a world class Security Operation Center (SOC).  The center encompassed state-of-the art systems designed for rapid growth, a solid infrastructure, and a unique 24/7 monitoring system for Fortune 500 Zyston clients.  Our company directives were laser-focused on “punching beyond its weight” resulting in an infrastructure built for over $100 million in revenue and 50+ employees. 

Rapid sales growth led to a working capital lending facility, additional opportunities to bolster operational efficiencies, champion process due diligence, monitor financials, and leverage capital market and financial management expertise.  Being a key team member that chartered the advancement of this rapidly growing entity was an amazing experience!

Chief Financial Officer

Responsible for the overall strategic direction of a new lending unit. Formed and managed a new fund, focused on investing in lower middle market companies under $10 million in EBITDA. Targeted $225 million SBIC debt fund, by attaining a $75 million commitment from Kayne Anderson and applying to the SBA for $150 million of SBIC long-term low-cost debt.

Managing Partner and Head of New Debt Fund

Responsible for the strategic direction of the holding company’s new lending division. Worked one-on-one with division management to ensure a streamlined flow of leads within the group. Reported to the President of Certus Capital. Secured a $25 million equity commitment from Certus Bank and targeted raising an additional $50 million in equity from 100 fully vetted investors.

Managing Partner and Co-Head of Debt Fund

Upon joining as one of four Managing Directors and Investment Committee Member, a key initiative was to establish a new Atlanta Office.  Grew office by investing over $600 million of capital in 31 companies with sixteen private equity sponsors.  Key team member involved with driving Golub Capital assets by attending weekly executive management team meetings to define strategy, new business, product development, marketing, and fundraising plans.  Successfully raised capital from pension funds, fund-of-funds, endowments, foundations, high net worth individuals, family offices, and insurance companies.
