My duties included traveling to a VAR's location and ensuring that both their sales and engineers were up to date on USR's product line. Also, I was responsible for traveling with USR's Sales Organization functioning as a Systems Engineer and assisting the sales force as a technical back-up.

Elek-Tek was a boutique electronics store (Similar to Best Buy and Circuit City), and HQ'd in Illinois. I assisted them in opening their first Overland Park, KS store. After 6 months, I was then promoted to become their Sale's Manager for their downtown Chicago Loop store. I was responsible for the sale's process for the entire store and had management responsibilities for roughly 30 people, from floor sale's consultants to cashiers to warehouse personnel. ElekTek filed for bankruptcy in 1996.

As a Field Lottery Technician I was responsible for servicing, installing, repairing and/or replacing GTECH's lottery machines in a given territory. GTECH recently won the TX Lottery Commission contract and we were the first crews to install and support this solution. Daily duties included running the CAT5 cable from the D-Mark to the desired location (Usually the front desk), configuring the CSU/DSU, connecting the lottery terminal, and testing for communication. I was also "On-Call' 24/7 to ensure GTECH's 99.999% up time within my region.

After the USAF, I was recruited to work in IBM's Austin, TX facility as a Failure and Analysis Engineer. There I performed stress tests on motherboards for their RISC System 6000 and Thinkpad Laptops; i.e. placing the powered mother board in a sealed chamber and adjusting the humidity and temperature to see when the motherboard would fail. Once it failed, I had to troubleshoot the motherboard to find the failing circuit, capacitor, diode, resistor or IC and replace it. Once replaced, ran the tests again to determine if the failure was fixed.

I enlisted into the USAF in 1987, where I became an Avionics Guidance and Control Specialist (Auto-Pilot). I was assigned to Bergstrom, AFB in Austin, TX and serviced RF-4C Phantoms. I was responsible for the electronics components in the entire cockpit. Basically, if there was a gyro or amplifier that was part of the Avionics System, I was responsible for making sure they all operated in concert and did not make the plane bank once engaged (Which would occur from time to time and the Pilots were NEVER happy about that). I am a Desert Storm Veteran and proud to have served my country.
