Joseph Hwang
Joseph Hwang is the Managing Director of Special Situations at Obra Capital (formerly Vida Capital), a position he has held since 2018.12 He is responsible for deal originations, structuring, and capital markets activities.1 Hwang has structured over $1 billion in insurance-linked transactions across the company's funds.1
Prior to joining Obra Capital, Hwang served as the Managing Director (Head) of Capital Markets for the J.G. Wentworth Company, where he was responsible for the securitization program and all capital markets activities.12 Throughout his career, he has structured over $10 billion in esoteric assets and consumer receivables.1
Hwang's professional background includes various leadership and capital markets roles at UnitedHealth Group, American Express, and TD Bank.12 He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University's Eli Broad College of Business and a Master of Science from Villanova School of Business.12
