Joseph Crabtree

Joseph Crabtree is the Founder and CEO of Additive Manufacturing Technologies (AMT), a company he established in 2017.14 With an MEng in Material Sciences and Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK, Crabtree has over a decade of experience in traditional manufacturing.1

Prior to founding AMT, Crabtree worked as a Metallurgist at Arconic, held roles in Six Sigma Process improvement and Operational management in the USA and Hungary, and was Head of Sales and Marketing at an Aerospace SME.1

AMT, under Crabtree's leadership, has become a world leader in developing and commercializing digital Post Production systems for additive manufacturing.1 The company employs over 100 people across the UK, Hungary, the USA, and Taiwan.1

Crabtree's innovative work at AMT includes the development of PostPro technology, which uses Boundary Layer Automated Smoothing Technology (BLAST) to achieve an injection-molded surface quality on 3D printed polymer parts.5 AMT has secured 40 patents, primarily in chemical vapor smoothing.5

Currently, Crabtree is based in Austin, Texas, and also holds the position of Director at Organic Thesis in Budapest, Hungary.3 His work at AMT aims to transform 3D printing into a viable manufacturing technology for producing end-use parts at scale.2
