José Luis Orozco is a highly acclaimed Mexican-American bilingual educator, children's author, and recording artist. Born in Mexico City in 1948, Orozco's family immigrated to the United States where he grew up in California. Inspired by the traditional songs and rhythms of his heritage, Orozco began incorporating these sounds into his teaching methods. He has since released over 15 albums and written numerous bilingual children's books, which have been recognized by the American Library Association and the International Latino Book Awards. Orozco's work has been used in schools across the United States to promote multicultural education, language acquisition, and cultural preservation. He has also received numerous awards for his contributions to the community, including the prestigious National Hispanic Heritage Award.
