José Jiménez

José Luis Jiménez is a Principal in New York City, a Ph.D. student in Urban Education, an Adjunct Lecturer at Brooklyn College, and a Registered Yoga Teacher.

He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Education, Policy Studies, and Leadership from The Graduate Center, City University of New York, an Educational Leadership degree from Canisius College, a Master of Science in Elementary Education/Bilingual Education from Brooklyn College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Literature, Theatre History, and Cinema from New York University.

José has been involved in various organizations including the NYC Department of Education, UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza), Cahn Fellows Program for Distinguished Principals, Envision Education, EdLeader21, Big Picture Learning, and more.

He has been a Deeper Learning Leadership Forum Fellow, Cahn Fellow for Distinguished Principals, Deeper Learning Equity Fellow, National Institute for Latinx School Leaders Policy Fellow, and an executive committee member of the Proud Teacher Initiative.

José also has experience as a yoga instructor, being a Registered Yoga Teacher and having completed training at A.C.E. Academy for Scholars, Yogi Beans, and Breathe For Change.

He is a member of the LGBTQIA+ educators' network supporting each other to be positive role models for students.
