Reconciliation and Open Government at Canada Energy Regulator
José Fernandes is a highly educated and accomplished individual with a background in biology, neuroscience, and medicine. He holds a doctorate and studied abroad through the Erasmus program in medicine. He has conducted applied and basic research in neuroscience, decision making, and behavioral science at several reputable institutions including Princeton University and the University of Victoria. His work has led him to become passionate about reconciliation with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people, as well as diversity and inclusion. Previously an associate at BEworks, he has worked as a Behavioral Scientist and Data Science Manager at the Canada Energy Regulator. He has also been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Victoria and a Graduate Student at the Champalimaud Foundation. Surrounded by academia, he has also conducted research as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Victoria and as a Graduate Student at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia.
