Jon Montes is an award-winning creative producer and industry researcher based in Toronto with over 15 years of experience in the film industry.
He is known for producing the CSA-winning feature documentary 'nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up', which premiered as the opening night film at Hot Docs 2019.
Currently, Jon works as a Research Lead within the CMF's Foresight and Innovation team, where he bridges Canadian industry trends with global and technological shifts in media consumption and production.
Jon Montes holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Communication & Culture from the Joint Graduate Program at Toronto Metropolitan University & York University, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Language and Literature from Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador.
His previous roles include being a Research Lead and Independent Producer at the Canada Media Fund, Producer and Associate Producer at the National Film Board of Canada, Content & Materials Coordinator and KDM Coordinator at the Toronto International Film Festival, Researcher at the National Film Board of Canada, Assistant Production Coordinator at the National Film Board of Canada, Outreach Manager at St. John's International Women's Film Festival, and Communications Intern at the Government of Canada's Department of Canadian Heritage.
