He co-founded Light Field Lab in 2017 alongside Brendan Bevensee and Ed Ibe, with a mission to pave the way for a holographic future by leveraging their collective expertise in light field technology.

Having held key positions at prominent companies like Lytro Inc., RealD, Digital Domain Media Group, and In-Three Inc., Jon Karafin brings a wealth of experience to the table. As the former Head of Light Field Video at Lytro Inc., he played a pivotal role in the development of groundbreaking technologies such as the Lytro Cinema camera, setting new standards in cinematic capture and post-production. Additionally, his tenure at RealD and Digital Domain Media Group further solidified his expertise in production technology and operations.

Jon's educational background includes MFA degrees in Digital Animation/Computer Graphics and Fine Art Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology, as well as a BFA in Film, Photography, Visual Arts, and Audio Production from Ithaca College. His academic foundation, coupled with years of hands-on experience in the industry, has shaped him into a leading figure in the realm of light field technology.
