Jon Avent

Jon Avent is a chartered Structural Engineer with a background in mechanical engineering, specializing in the structural and mechanical design of crane structures for offshore and dockside applications.
In 1990, Jon redirected his career towards building conservation engineering with Mann Williams, leveraging his passion for historic buildings. He has since become a respected figure in the conservation sector, focusing on innovation and the development of new preservation and repair techniques for heritage structures.
Jon Avent currently holds the position of Chair at CARE, the ICE and IStructE Conservation Register for Engineers. He is actively involved in the RICS Conservation Forum Board and Edinburgh Group, advocating for conservation efforts in the UK and globally.
With over 20 years of experience as an Accredited Conservation Engineer, Jon has worked on various heritage structures including Grade 1 properties and Scheduled Monuments. His clients range from English Heritage and the National Trust to local authorities, Building Preservation Trusts, and private clients.
Jon Avent completed his BSc(Hons) at Brunel University London and has previously served as a Director at Mann Williams Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers in Bath, Cardiff, and Belfast.
