Jon Atkinson

Jon Atkinson is the Chief Executive Officer of The Idea Village, a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans that focuses on fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the region. He has held this position since June 2018, where he is dedicated to building a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem by attracting and retaining talent, as well as providing essential resources for startups.12

Background and Experience

Atkinson has a rich background in entrepreneurship and finance. Before becoming CEO of The Idea Village, he served as the Fund Administrator for Lagniappe Angels, an angel investment group focused on early-stage companies. His responsibilities included sourcing investment opportunities and managing the group's investment pipeline.1 He also played a significant role in academia as the founding director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Community Development at Loyola University New Orleans, where he developed programs aimed at enhancing entrepreneurial skills among students.2

Education

Jon Atkinson holds an MBA in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship from Tulane University, which complements his extensive experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors.2

Personal Interests

Outside of his professional commitments, Atkinson enjoys rowing, traveling, coffee, and watching culinary shows like "Chef’s Table" on Netflix. He is passionate about supporting local entrepreneurs and believes in the potential of New Orleans as a hub for innovation.2
