Jolien Grandia

Jolien Grandia is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Administration and Sociology at Erasmus University Rotterdam and serves as the program director of the International Management of International Social Challenges Bachelor program.

Her research is centered around transformations in public procurement, particularly focusing on areas like the decentralization of youth and home care and the adoption of sustainable public procurement practices. She integrates knowledge from public administration, organization studies, change management, and purchasing in her research efforts. Jolien was granted an EUR Fellowship talent award in 2018 for her two-year investigation into the procurement of care services by Dutch municipalities.

Prior to her current role, Jolien worked as an assistant professor at Radboud University in Nijmegen and gained experience as a Ph.D. candidate and junior lecturer at the Department of Public Administration of Erasmus University Rotterdam. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration, a Master of Science in Public Administration, a Master of Arts in Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship, and a Bachelor of Arts in Arts and Culture Studies, all from Erasmus University.

Jolien's educational background includes studies at various institutions such as the Netherlands Institute of Government, Jacob van Liesveldt, Radboud University Nijmegen, Roskilde University, and multiple programs at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Throughout her career, Jolien has held key positions in academia and organizations. Apart from her current role at Erasmus University Rotterdam, she has been an assistant professor at Radboud University Nijmegen, a Ph.D. candidate/junior lecturer, and a junior lecturer at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Additionally, she has contributed in organizational roles such as Secretary of the board and Workgroup Teacher at Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, Intern at Berenschot, and Boardmember at Stichting Beeldende Kunst - Zuid-Hollandse Eilanden.
