John has undergone extensive executive development preparation and holds educational qualifications from prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, Stanford University, Broad Foundation, University of Denver, Pacific Lutheran University, and Eastern Washington University.

His professional experience includes roles as Superintendent at Puget Sound Educational Service District, Superintendent Elect at the same district, Superintendent at Highline School District, Deputy Superintendent at Highline School District, and Vice President for Administrative Services at South Seattle Community College.
